This past August, the little cassette label that I run with my other half, turned 1. It’s weird having something so important and dear to our hearts, like a child (something I’m not wanting for a long time).
We decided to throw a party at a local venue in PDX called Holocene. This venue in particular is known for having incredible dance parties, and make-out sessions on and off the dance floor. With two stages and 8 bands for the night, we threw a party that should have been remembered, but the drink special (The Hairy Palm) got to everyone. In honor of my lovely friends that work with us at Apes Tapes, I made a cake, which was also ape themed, with a little class. I’m not one to carve cake into a particular character or thing, so I went with devil’s food cake/angel food cake, raspberry mousse and bananas. I suppose the bananas were the only thing relevant.
Sadly, I’m so paranoid about people effing up my design, that we didn’t really cut into until the night was over, at which point we were so drunk we effed it up anyway. The remaining pieces were taken home and photographed.
Note for those with OCD: When cutting cake, always clean the knife in between each slice. This will ensure straight, clean lines every time.
Represent. This cake looks good:)
